NEWCOMBE, JOHN WANSTALL March 11, 1920 – October 1, 2017
The family wishes to announce the passing of John Wanstall Newcombe on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Veteran's Village at Sherbrooke Community Centre at the age of 97 years.

John, who was a lifelong resident of Saskatoon, was born on March 11, 1920 to Frank and Gertrude Newcombe. John attended Caswell School and Bedford Road Collegiate. He joined the RCAF in 1940 where he served as a radar technician. During his overseas he met and married his English bride, Gladys Gertrude (Trudy) Smith on April 21, 1945. They were married for 55 years with Trudy passing in April of 2001. John worked with Western Grocers and Shelley Western for 40 years retiring in 1979. He was a member of Christ Church Anglican.

John was predeceased by his brother Donald Frank Newcombe in August 1943, and his father and mother in 1978. He is survived by his daughter Marilyn (Roy) Clark of Lloydminster and their children Courtney and Malcolm (fiancée Crystal Parsons) and their daughter Pera. He is also survived by his son Donald (Dianne) of Moose Jaw and their children Ryan (Jennifer) and their children Peyton and Isabella and Ashley (Evan) Boehm and their child Kennedy. He is also survived by two English nieces – Carol and Dorothy Ann and their families.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Christ Church Anglican, 515 – 28th Street West with The Reverend Mark Kleiner officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Christ Church Anglican and/or Veterans' Village Sherbrooke Community Centre.
