BARNSLEY, GREGORY JAMES WOOD September 23, 1933 – January 2, 2017
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gregory James Wood Barnsley.
Greg was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK attending Caswell Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate Institute. Following high school Greg attended broadcasting school at Ryerson Institute in Toronto. Greg returned to Saskatoon to begin a long lasting and rewarding career in radio and television broadcasting with CFQC.
Greg had many and varied interests including a love of nature, all living creatures, camping, jazz and big band music, history and reading anything non-fiction. Above all, Greg loved his family and family gatherings. He never missed a chance to say how grateful he was for everyone to be together.
Greg was predeceased by his beloved grandparents James and Millie Barnsley, parents Harry and Dorothy Barnsley and much loved son Robert Scott Barnsley. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years Louella, children Jim, Nancy (Ron Stasiuk), John (Brenda), son-in-law Bob Birtles and grandchildren Dan, Laura, Sarah and Hannah, sister and brother-in-law Wilma and John Oppenheim and nieces Terry and Cindy.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Greg's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan (301-2550 12th Regina, SK S4P 3X1).
