KILPATRICK, (Robert) Allen B.Ed., LLD December 9, 1934 to February 22, 2016
Allen Kilpatrick died suddenly from complications of pulmonary fibrosis.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, he was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Kilpatrick. His principled, hard-working, immigrant parents instilled strong values in their son while encouraging him to aspire to higher education and to set lofty goals. Allen was proud of his prairie roots and displayed the honesty, kind intentions, strong work ethic and self-deprecating humor of his Saskatchewan heritage.

After graduating from Bedford Road Collegiate, he entered the College of Education at U. of S. and upon graduation, taught for two years in a small four-room high school in Indian Head. He then wrote the Federal Public Service exam and was posted to Prague. This began a long and illustrious career in the Canadian Foreign Service, in which he promoted Canadian international trade at postings in Accra, Mexico, Cleveland, Hong Kong, and as High Commissioner to Australia. He also held many important positions in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa, culminating in his being named Canada's Deputy Minister of International Trade. Upon retiring from the public service, he became Vice President of Marketing for Atomic Energy of Canada, then President and CEO.

He was a loving husband, a kind and generous father to his three children and an accomplished athlete. His kindness, intelligence and good cheer will be missed by all who knew him.
