GERMEK, Karl March 10, 1920 – September 2, 2014
Karl passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in Saskatoon.
Karl was born in Gomel, Russia on March 10, 1920 to Joseph and Bertha Germek. He emigrated in 1922 via London, New York and then Saskatoon. Karl attended Princess Alexandra, Bedford Road Collegiate and the University of Saskatchewan. Karl served with the RCAF during WWII. Enlisting in 1941, going overseas in 1942 until 1945. On June 9, 1950, he married Mary Peters in Vancouver and resided in Tucson, AZ where their daughter Candy was born. Returning to Saskatoon in 1953 he was employed by Buckwold's Ltd., until his retirement in 1982. Daughters Carlene and Cari were born in 1954 and 1956 respectively.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Bertha, his wife Mary and his daughter Carlene. To cherish his memory are his daughters Candy and Cari (Daryl) Taras, grandchildren Bill Jr., Zaeus (Jenn) Daemond and Ginelle (Mike), great grandchildren, Taryn, Chance, Zaiden, Zenaya, Caleb, Tori, Morgan, Olivia and Shasta; also his sister Evelyn (Irving) Goldenberg and family and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to Dr. Goluboff, 6th Floor University Hospital Staff and to his friends at the Ilarion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MS Society or Lupus. There will be a come and go tea on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. celebrating Karl's life at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre – 333 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon, courtesy parking at Saskatoon Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home. Ph 306-244-5577.
