MUZIKA, John September 24, 1938 - May 2, 2014
John passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Royal University Hospital at the age of 75.
He leaves behind his wife Karen, daughter Sonja, son Warren (Alyssa) and siblings Walter (Ruth) Muzika and Ruby (Richard) Elenko.
John was born to Sam and Olga Muzika on September 24, 1938. He grew up on the family farm in Sonningdale, moving to Saskatoon to attend Bedford Road Collegiate for his last years of high school. During his childhood, John made a decision to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptised as a young adult. He took a year at the University of Saskatchewan before going to Briercrest Bible School. He discovered his interest in business during these years and later completed a Bachelor of Commerce and of Arts. Upon completion of his degrees, he was hired by Federated Co-op in Saskatoon. Shortly after, he accepted a transfer to Prince George, BC where he married Karen and where Sonja was born. A transfer to Calgary, AB came next and soon after Warren joined the family.
John fulfilled his life dream of managing his own business when he partnered with friends to run M&H Feeds in Surrey, BC. In 1984, the family moved to Saskatoon where John pursued a career as a financial advisor. In the years to follow, he was involved in the local business community, as well as Kiwanis, The Salvation Army and Ebenezer Baptist Church. John always had time to enjoy a football game, especially those of his son Warren, for whom he cheered the loudest.
The Memorial Service for John will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2 pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church 107 McWillie Ave., Saskatoon. Donations to Briercrest College in John's name will gratefully be accepted. Arrangements are in care of Cheryl Carlson Mourning Glory Funeral Services. (978-5200).
