LESLIE, (Abigail) Irena March 21, 1917 - November 13, 2013
Irena Leslie (nee Scharf) passed away on November 13, 2013 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the age of 96.
Irena is survived by her children Carolyn (Ken) Glauser and Norman (Carmen) Leslie. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Andrea (Isaac) Berdugo, Ian, John, Madeline, Elizabeth, and Bridget Leslie, Stacey (Darren) McConnell, and Sara (Kris) Kozmanuik, great-grandchildren: Autumn, Echo and River Kozmanuik, and her life long friend Marion Clark.
Irena was predeceased by her parents Abigail and Edwin Scharf, her sisters Edna and Abigail, and her brothers Norman, Ronald and Burt. Her husband Jim, died on September 9, 1999, and she missed him for the rest of her life.
Mom grew up and was educated in Saskatoon. She received her education at Westmont Elementary School, Bedford Road Collegiate, Sion Academy, and Saskatoon Business College. She worked at several private firms and the Federal Government. After her marriage to Jim in 1948, and the arrival of her children, Irena became an amazing full-time mom. Then she expanded her loving care to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they arrived on the scene.
We want to thank Betty Sandulak and all the staff at her care home for the wonderful care they gave Mom over the last three years. They were fantastic. Our mother will be greatly missed and forever remembered. There will be a private family Funeral at our mother's request. In lieu of flowers our mother requested that donation be sent to the Saskatoon SPCA (5028 Clarence Ave. S. Grasswoods, SK S7T 1A7). Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
