NASE, Ruth (Lawson) Born November 7, 1933, Died March 2, 2013
Predeceased by her husband Dave Nase and by her parents William and Irene Lawson. She is survived by her three children, Debbie (Don Mumby); Steve (Frieda) and Sandra; four grandchildren, Ryan Mumby, Brendan Nase (Mary), Derek Nase (Leanne) and Stephanie DeBray. And by one great-granddaughter Quinn Robin Nase. Also by her sister Pat Lawson, brother-in-law Bob Nase, sister-in- law Sheila Nase, dear family friend Barb Dorsey, niece and nephew Scott and Susan Nase and a number of cousins.
Ruth attended school in Saskatoon and in elementary school was a member of one of the earliest ACTEL classes for exceptional students from the city. Her high school education was at Bedford Road Collegiate. She also attended the University of Saskatchewan where she earned a teaching certificate.
In addition to raising her family she had successful careers in teaching and in real estate. She was also a very accomplished seamstress and knitter. Along with the love of family, she also cherished her Shelties and summers at the Emma Lake cabin with family and friends. Athletically, she was a competitive speed skater and a member of the U of S volleyball team. Ruth, Dave and their children are long time supporters of the Saskatoon Lion's Speed Skating Club.
Ruth had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for many years. Hopefully she has now found relief from her torment. Thank you to the caregivers at Quality Care Homes and Oliver Lodge for the wonderful care Ruth received through her illness and in her final days.
At Ruth's request there will be no funeral service. The Saskatoon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan, 1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, Sk., S7L 3R5.
