BATEMAN, ROYCE HART November 4th, 1944 - December 6th, 2012
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Royce at St. Paul's Hospital at the age of 68 years.

He is dearly loved and remembered by his wife Carol of 42 years; children, Jamie (Gerald) Svennes, Cindy, Scott (Lana), and Jason; 9 grandchildren, Ross, Breana, Donovan, Devin, Dylan, Dustin, Dalton, Brock and Brooke; 1 great-grandchild, Alexis; three sisters, Marilee Esch, Cherie (Dave) Gessler, Shelley (Norman) Wegwitz; sister-in-law, Louise (Harry) Matzner; brother-in-law, Mervin Dwornik; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Olive Bateman; his brother, Mickey; and parents-in-law, Michael and Mary Dwornik.

Royce 'Joe' was born and raised in Saskatoon. He attended Westmount Public School and graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate. After high school he took a motor vehicle repair course at Kelsey Institute. Upon completion he worked alongside his father at Bateman Golf. He then worked as a steam engineer at Empire Meats for 17 years. In his retirement he started his own company, RB Hauling which he owned and operated for 13 years until his untimely death.

Mechanics was his life and he loved to tinker. He also enjoyed sports, crossword puzzles, gardening and was an avid collector of numerous things. He was a Watkins rep for many years. Joe was a hardworking and kind hearted man with a big smile who loved to tease and joke. He loved being around his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12th at Christ Church Anglican (28 Street West and Avenue E North) with Pastor Jim Halmarson presiding.
