Edith Helen, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 11, 2004 at the age of 97 years.

She is survived by sisters Isobel Gibbings of Regina, and Frances (Jack) MacFayden of Chilliwack; and brother Jack (Hope) Hagerman of Edmonton; and brother-in-law Harold Tilley of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her sisters Margaret Mann of Brandon, Mary Tilden of Nepean, Kay Hagerman of Saskatoon, and Marion Tilley of Saskatoon.

Edith was born to Worthington and Kate Hagerman on April 12, 1907 in Allenford, Ontario. The family moved to Saskatoon in 1911 and Edith was schooled at Caswell Elementary and Bedford Road Collegiate. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with degrees in Arts & Science and Education. She taught for 35 years in Elstow, Outlook, Weyburn, and in Saskatoon at the Canadian Vocational Training School and Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. After retirement, she was an active member of the Saskatchewan Superannuated Teachers, and was always fondly remembered by her former students.

She was a wonderful and beloved aunt to 19 nieces and nephews, with whom, ever the teacher, she delighted in playing her favorite word games and solving puzzles.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 16th, 2004 at Woodlawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ray Milne. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Saskatoon Funeral Home (4th Avenue & 25th Street) at 10:30 to join the procession to the cemetery or alternatively to wait at the cemetery gates and join the procession at that point. Friends are invited to join the family at a reception at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre at 11:30 a.m. following the service, courtesy parking at the Saskatoon funeral Home.
