Pearl (Orchard) passed away peacefully at the Elrose Health Centre on Feb. 26, 2004.
Pearl was born on the 7th of June, 1917, to Theresa Jane (Young) and Charles Orchard and was raised in the Halcyonia District near Borden. She began her formal education at Halcyonia School and finished her public education at Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon. Pearl received her nursing training at Saskatoon City Hospital graduating 1942. She practiced her nursing in Saskatoon and Rosetown where she met George McKenzie. They were married in 1947 and raised their children on the farm near Zealandia. Two years after George died in 1979 she moved into the town of Zealandia where she resided until 2001. For a brief time Pearl lived at the Lion's Manor in Rosetown before moving to the Elrose Health Centre in August of 2001.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband George in 1979, parents Charles and Jane, brothers Bryce (Isabel) and Gordon (Kathleen), sisters Maymie Davidson, Irene Mohr (Carl) and twin sister Ruby Orchard; brother-in-law Cyril McKenzie and sister-in-law Nora Thorpe. Pearl's memory is cherished by her children, daughter Carolynne Adams, and sons Allan (Darlene), Bryce (Dawn) and Gordon (Audrey); fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and brother-in-law Nat Davidson.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday March 1, 2004 from the Zealandia United Church, Rev. Jan Coffey Olson officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow interment at Zealandia Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Arthritis Society, 600-333 25th Street East, Saskatoon, Sask; the Zealandia United Church or Elrose Health Centre. Arrangements entrusted to Clements Rosetown Funeral Home.
