HARASYMCHUK, WALTER January 24, 1926 - August 9, 2010
With great sadness our family announces that Walter Harasymchuk passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010 at the age of 84.

Walter is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary (nee Kwas) of 53 years; and his five children, Joyce (Richard) Ellis, Pat (Don) Vogt, Bill Harasymchuk, Mike (Lorraine) Harasymchuk and Carol (Patrick) Mailloux; and his ten grandchildren Pamela (Alexander) Eshenko, Jason, Nicole, Matthew, Evan, Ian, Sawyer, Fynn, Cruz and Matthew.

Walter was born in Saskatoon on January 24, 1926 to Conrad and Tekla Harasymchuk. Walter attended Bedford Road Collegiate and graduated in 1944. He was enlisted in the army and trained in various parts of Canada. Walter had a long career as a carpenter until he retired at the age of 65. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters' Union for 59 years. He was also an active member of St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He enjoyed annual family holidays at Waskesiu and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and was a lifelong learner with a very inquisitive mind. He thoroughly enjoyed reading, always had a few books on the go and enjoyed sharing his knowledge. Walter took great pleasure in helping others with his excellent carpentry skills, shoveling the snow down the block during winter or being the driver when his friends could no longer drive.

Prayers for Walter will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George, 214 Ave. M South, Saskatoon with Celebrant Reverend Father Janko. Kolosnjaji. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery. To send online condolences to the family, visit www.parkfuneral.ca . Arrangements have been entrusted to James Werezak.
