GRAUER, Shirley Hilda (Westbrook) February 4, 1927 - May 8, 2010
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Hilda Grauer at Extendicare on May 8th, 2010.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her three children, Coleen (Phil), Marilyn (Tom), and Randy (Karen) and her four grandchildren Bradley (Diane), Ryan (Nikki), Michelle, and Mitchell. She will also be missed by her sister, Patricia (Gordon) and Pat's children, Natalie (George), Graham (Carol), Woody (Wendy) and their children, Hannah, Eliza, Elliot, and Emma. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Keitha and Cyril Westbrook and her sister, Audrey.
Shirley was born in Saskatoon on February 4th, 1927. She grew up on a farm in the Blucher District. In 1942, she moved to Saskatoon and graduated grade 12 from Bedford Road Collegiate. She attended Normal School and then taught in country schools. She married Bill Grauer in 1947 and they raised their three children in Saskatoon. She worked at the Micado Silk for ten years. Shirley then attended Robertson's Secretarial School and after graduating, worked in the Accounting Department at Prairieland Exhibition until her retirement in 1992. Shirley was deeply cherished by her family and they were her greatest joy in life. This was demonstrated through countless hours of caring for her grandchildren with limitless patience and love. In her last four years, Shirley was a resident at Extendicare on Preston Avenue.
The family wishes to thank all the staff for their kind attention to Shirley. There will be a private family memorial to celebrate Shirley's life. In lieu of flowers, a small donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8) would be appreciated. Arrangements in care of Tammy Ferrier of Acadia-McKague's Funeral Centre 955-1600.
