MEREDITH, Amy
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Amy Meredith on September 25, 2009 in her 96th year in the Central Haven care Home.
She was born in Saskatoon on October 16, 1913. Her parents arrived in Saskatoon in 1912 and moved to Asquith in 1918 to engage in a successful dairy operation, which was shared by the whole family. Amy's elementary education was taken in a rural country school, high school at Bedford Road Collegiate, and a special business course at the Saskatoon Technical School. After graduation and a short employment at the Dairy Pool, the opportunity arose to work at the University of Saskatchewan. Her career at the University lasted for 42 years retiring in 1979 as an assistant to the Vice President (Administration).
Travel was of great interest and with friends and family she visited England, Europe, China, Israel, Egypt, Mexico, Hawaii and many other points in the United States. Amy's faith in Jesus Christ was most important in her life. She was clerk of session at Third Avenue United Church for 26 years, a member of the U.C.W., and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a volunteer at the Native Evangelical Fellowship and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.
She is predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Emily; sisters Edith, Nellie and Grace; brothers Leslie and Fred; a niece and a nephew. Amy is survived by a sister, Hazel Malcolm, Midland, ON; four nieces and three nephews; ten great-nieces and nephews, and 16 great-great nieces and nephews.
Amy's family would like to thank the staff at Central Haven for the care given to her. The funeral service will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Wednesday September 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
