"Reg " "Johnny " Brown succumbed to a brief fight with cancer on Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon at the age of 79.

Reg is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doris (nee Vaale); three children, eldest son, Lorne (Leona) of Qu'Appelle, daughter, Jan (Peter) Nizinkevich of Saskatoon, and son Mark of Calgary; and five grandchildren through Lorne and Leona, Jenna (fiance Taron Cochrane), Troy, Lee Kent and Jay; also remembered by his extended families, the Vaales and Kjorvans from BC and Alberta.

Reg was born in 1929 in Edam, SK to British immigrants, and graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate in 1947. He and Doris married in 1954 and they made family homes in Saskatoon, Regina, and Weyburn, before settling in Saskatoon to open Johnny's Inn in 1969 (23rd Street East) and again in 1976 (3rd Avenue North), as well as The Downtowner (3rd Avenue South). In later years, Reg operated WCLC lottery kiosks in the Midtown, Circle Centre and Lawson Heights malls.

A lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. (Elks), Reg rose to the offices of Exalted Ruler of the Saskatoon Chapter and then to District Deputy for the Saskatoon Region during the 1970's and 1980's.

A Celebration of Reg's Life will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Augustana Lutheran Church (1201 Broadway Ave. S) at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Bestvater presiding. The family expresses its heart-felt gratitude to all the caregivers at St. Paul's Hospital for their boundless compassion and kindness during Reg's final days.
