PATOLA, Walt Stanley March 3, 1937 - April 5, 2008
Our much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at St. Paul's Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer at the age of 71 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Mark (Lindsay) and David; granddaughter, Ava; brother, Nick; nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Nettie and Steve; and infant sister, Annie.
He graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate. After working in Alberta and British Columbia, Walt returned to Saskatchewan where he worked for SaskPower for 35 years. Walt played fastball in his youth with the Saskatoon Royals and a couple of years with the Rosetown Macs in the Northern Saskatchewan Baseball League. He took up the game of golf and has been a member of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club since 1973. Walt was a lifetime member of the Canadian Professional Golf Association.
Prayers for Walt will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 10th Street and Munroe Avenue, Saskatoon, SK with Very Rev. Fr. Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Children's Health and Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, 850 410 22nd Street East, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 5T6. Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach, 244-2103.
