Jean graduated from Caswell Hill Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor's in Household Science (B.H.Sc.). After graduation, Jean worked at the Baltzan Medical Clinic in Saskatoon before her marriage. Jean traveled to Montreal to marry fellow U of S graduate (Mechanical Engineering) John (Jack) White. The family lived in Montreal and Cornwall. After Jack's death, Jean and the boys returned to Saskatoon. She began working again for Dr. Baltzan in Saskatoon, and later became the Secretary Treasurer of Knox United Church until her retirement. Jean raised four children on her own and was proud that three children also graduated from the U of S, and one attended Simon Fraser.

Jean held several positions in the Canadian Federation of University Women. as Secretary Treasurer and Vice President, and was active in the book club, the annual book sale fundraising event and the CFUW Art Group who donates a painting to a Saskatoon Elementary school each year. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid gardener and member of the horticultural society. She was an active member of the Saskatoon Bridge Club, playing every Monday for over twenty years.

Jean was grateful for the companionship of her many friends. Jean never hesitated to help neighbors and friends, offering car rides, shopping trips, meals and accommodations. She traveled extensively in Canada from the West Coast to the High Arctic, to Newfoundland, and had visited almost every Province and Territory, missing only the Yukon. She especially enjoyed her summer visits with her sons' families. She greatly enjoyed figure skating, attending many World Championship events with her dear friend, Bryar Sedgewick. She also enjoyed jazz, and was a member of the Saskatoon Jazz Society for many years, and spent many enjoyable evenings at the Bassment.

Her parents, Hugh & Mary Cameron were early Saskatoon residents. Hugh and his brother Robert built many homes in the Caswell Hill area, and Robert worked on the construction of the Traffic Bridge in 1906. Jean's ancestors were originally from Scotland and Ireland, and were amongst the earliest pioneer settlers of Bruce County and Norfolk County, Ontario.

A Memorial Service will be held at Knox United Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31st. Arrangements by Martens Warman Funeral Home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
