SHARKO, Violet December 5, 1933 - April 7, 2011
My dear, sweet mom has passed on to be with her Lord and Savior.

Born and raised near Hanley Saskatchewan to Tom and Clara Wilson, Violet has a sister Gladys (Dave Wolf), brothers Adwin, Gordon (Edna), Frank (Edie), Albert and Harold (Delores). At a young age she moved to Saskatoon to finish high school attending Nutana and Bedford Road Collegiates. She went to Saskatoon Business College and then worked for many years with Smith Brothers & Wilson Construction and Dominion Bridge.

She married Lloyd Sharko (deceased) in 1960 and had one daughter, Joy (Dallas Claypool) and was a grandma to Austin and Wyatt. She enjoyed curling and staying fit, liked nothing better than going out (it didn't matter how late) for coffee, pie (just like her Dad) and good conversation with her family and friends to the Voyager Restaurant, or an evening trip to the Dairy Queen for 'anything chocolate'. She loved dogs and horses and going on shopping trips, and had a particular weakness for 'really good shoes'.

While she lived the last number of years of her life in Calgary and loved the mountains, she was a prairie girl at heart and will rest alongside her parents in Hanley. We give thanks for her life she was the best mom, sister and friend anyone could ask for. My mom was an inspiration to me for her gentle, kind and optimistic ways and she always gave the best advice. She was a shoulder to cry on and a person who dearly loved to laugh. I remember many nights together watching quirky British comedy shows. She was a grandma who could play on the floor with Austin and Wyatt as babies and toddlers for hours and have as much fun as they did with their cars and trains. We called her the 'drool wipe'n grandma' because she was always carrying around a facecloth and extra bib (oh, goodness, their sleepers are damp and cold let's get another one...).

I rarely saw her down or angry and while she was a gentle soul, she was also very strong in her own way she taught me a lot about patience and longsuffering. But the one thing that truly defined my mom was her Faith. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Saskatoon and then in Calgary she attended Foundation Baptist Church where she played an important part of leading me to the Lord. One verse that she highlighted in her Bible that gave her great courage was, I Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. So to everyone who reads this please know my mom has gone to Glory. We are not sad but smiling and giving thanks for her life and that she can now hear the words from Jesus Christ, 'well done my good and faithful servant'. We love you Mom, Grandma, Sister ... we'll meet you again on the other side. Love Joy xoxo.

Funeral Service to be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:30 am at Fellowship Baptist Church, 905 Taylor St. East, Saskatoon with Pastor Michael Miller and Pastor Marvin Mountney officiating. Interment will follow in Hanley. Everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, and as a gift to Violet, we'd ask that you take a moment to read a verse from the Bible or perhaps stop into a Bible believing church next Sunday. May you be Blessed!
