MILNE, Lillie Elaine (Leard) May 20, 1915 – October 28, 2013
The family of Lillie Milne announces her death at the age of 98 on Monday, October 28th at Extendicare Preston. They celebrate her life on earth and rejoice in the new phase of life she has entered.

Lillie Milne was born May 20, 1915 in Saskatoon. She attended King George School and Bedford Road Collegiate. She left high school and began working at various jobs in Saskatoon and surrounding rural areas. After her marriage to Clifford in 1937, they farmed together and raised four children in the Woodlawn District west of Delisle.

Lillie was a marvelous cook and welcomed everyone to her table. Part of her farm work included learning to operate the combine when she was 53 years old. She has lived in Saskatoon for the past 24 years, at Luther Tower (and Extendicare for the past 13 months).

Lillie was known for her generous spirit and the loving care she gave to others throughout her life – at the age of eight she cared for younger siblings, later her own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and at the age of 97 was still concerned for the safety of her neighbors at Luther Tower. In her 80's, she relished the competition of word games and took up memorizing long recitations which she performed at Luther Tower and at church talent nights. She provided knitted toques, mittens, and afghans for family, friends and bazaars. She was always a faithful member and worker in her church.

In August 2012, she suffered a stroke which robbed her of her ability to communicate verbally, and cut short her special gifts of care-giving and other talents. She was released from her frail body when she entered into glory, to the mansion prepared for her by her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lillie was preleased by Clifford, her husband of 64 years, in 2001, her parents, L.T. and Hannah Leard, a son-in-law, Hans Kellner, a sister, Dorothy Jackson and brothers, Ralph, Elmer, Howard and Ray Leard. She is survived by two daughters, Hazel Kellner and Betty (Blake) Anderson, two sons, Ray (Brenda) and Bruce (Cherry), a special added daughter, Joyce Oxnard and one sister, Shirley (Glenn) Boughton. Also survived by eight grandchildren: John Kellner, Peter(Kenna) Kellner, Dennis (Pam) Kellner, Jennifer (Steve) Bisson, Courtney (Rae) Milne, Nikki (Stephen) Robinson, Burt (Alisa) Milne, and Sheena (Tim) Derksen, three step grandchildren, Mark (Roxanne) Anderson, Lynne (Blair) MacPherson and Jonathan (Heather) Anderson, as well as 15 great- grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn three sisters-in-law, Eileen Leard, Peggy Leard and Doreen Leard and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 401 Fourth Avenue North on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Paul Matheson officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery. Saskatoon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and the provision of parking. Viewing and visitation Friday, Nov 1, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home. If desired, donations in Lillie's memory may be made to First Baptist Memorial Fund or a charity of choice.
