VIGNES, Amanda Raye April 6, 1995 - July 4, 2020
Our beautiful daughter and sister to John, Josh and Serina has left us too soon. Amanda Raye Vignes, born April 6, 1995, passed away unexpectedly July 4, 2020, Vancouver, British Columbia, age 25.
Amanda, was the baby of the family, and spent her first year on the acreage near Asquith, SK. When her family moved into Saskatoon, she grew up to become the tomboy on the block. She loved all sports and excelled in cheerleading, volleyball, basketball and her passion was fastball. She graduated Grade 12 from Bedford Road Collegiate.
While in high school, she took the Carpentry Apprenticeship Program offered at Mount Royal Collegiate, and it was here, where she found her love for the carpentry trade. She would go to work for Superior Cabinets from 2014 -2016, getting some firsthand experience in the work trade. From there she went to work for Classic Design Carpentry for a couple of years where she learned invaluable skills to be a finishing carpenter. Then Amanda started up with Pagnotta Industries, providing the carpentry work for their concrete projects.
In March of this year, due to the work shortage in Saskatoon, Amanda was given the opportunity to go out to Vancouver, BC to work on Pagnotta's projects there. She took up the challenge and headed out west, where she enjoyed her work with Pagnotta right up until her untimely passing.
Amanda loved dearly the cats and dogs who were a part of her life. She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. As she would change her own tires and give her own vehicle an oil change, and just recently had all the parts ready to tackle her brakes in her car. She also enjoyed cooking the odd new dish and even tried her hand at making jam and baking buns! She was a very independent strong spirited person, who lived life on her own terms. She was full of energy and it seemed that she never sat still. While working her full-time carpentry jobs, she also worked 1 or sometimes 2 part-time jobs waitressing and somehow fitted it in her schedule to still play recreational ball, volleyball and kickboxing, in which she really enjoyed the socializing aspect of these extra activities.
Amanda will be severely missed by her parents: Martin and Sandy Vignes. Her 2 brothers: Johnathan (Priscilla) Kolisnek, Joshua Kolisnek and her sister: Serina (Ryan) Vignes. Her 3 nephews: Ayden, Ethan and Hunter Kolisnek (and their mother Amber) and her 1 niece: Ariana Kolisnek. Also mourning her loss, her grandmothers: Ruth (Bob) Unrau and Beryl Wignes, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Her work partner and companion: Ryan. She will be dearly missed by all her friends whom she accumulated over the years.
Amanda was predeceased by her grandfathers: Frank Unrau (1996) and Norman Wignes (2007). Her great-grandmothers: Mary Anderson (1996) and Marian McCallum (2007), and by uncle Rob Nykiforuk in 2006.
The family would like to thank the Vancouver Emergency Responders for their actions, and also would like to thank Pagnotta Industries for their compassion, understanding and support given to the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, if one would like to donate to KidSport Saskatoon or the Hoiland Lutheran Cemetery Fund (Care of Inger Olah, Box 396, Watrous, SK S0K 4T0).
