Buck enjoyed many sports. As a young man he played for the Saskatoon Wesley hockey team and later he became a referee in the Western Hockey League. Baseball was his favorite sport as a young boy, playing in any open space with his pals. He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986. Buck enjoyed many years of golfing with friends and family, especially his time at Holiday Park Golf Course.
Buck was an accomplished craftsman and artist. He loved to paint prairie scenes and landscapes.
