HORLEY
Emma Horley, 90, passed away peacefully at St. Anne's Home, on December 13, 2004, with her devoted husband of 65 years, Norwood, at her side.

Emma will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Norwood; her son, Lloyd (Angelle); her granddaughter, Susan (Gibran) Wakil; grandson, Wayne; sister, Violet Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Pauline (Otto) Raesler, Eileen Horley and Hazel (Keith) Bloder; several special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and George Newton; brother, William; brothers-in-law, Russell Horley, Wayne Horley and Ted Reynolds.

Emma was born on June 6, 1914, in the district of Ballinora, SK. She attended public school at Alada S.D. In 1926, she left the country life behind, and moved to the bright lights of Saskatoon, where she attended Bedford Road Collegiate. She graduated from Normal School in 1933. Emma has maintained many long-term friendships with fellow Normal School Students, and worked tirelessly to arrange a 50-yr reunion in 1983. While Emma was teaching at Madawaka, SK, she met the love of her life, Norwood Horley. They were married on October 7, 1939.

Norwood's career as a municipal secretary took them to several Sask. communities, including Shell Lake, Shellbrook (where their son, Lloyd was born), North Battleford, Foam Lake and Elrose. When Norwood retired in 1980, they moved to Saskatoon.

Emma quickly became a contributing member of each community in which they lived. She is remembered for her love of entertaining and for her lavish dinner parties. She was active in United Church organizations and in Eastern Star. Emma took up golf while living at Elrose, and was the driving force behind the establishment of the Elrose Golf Club. Emma derived much pleasure from summering at Waskesiu with family and friends, and, in later years, spending the winters in Nanaimo, BC. Emma's greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, Susan and Wayne. She was very involved in their lives and took great pride in their many accomplishment.

A celebration of Emma's life will be held at McClure Church, 4025 Taylor St. E. on December 16 at 1:45 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Anne's, who have cared for Emma with tenderness and compassion. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME.
