MCINNES, Raymond
It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected but peaceful passing of Raymond McInnes, age 79, on January 20, 2006 at Saskatoon City Hospital surrounded by the love of his family and thoughts and prayers of many friends.
He is survived by his wife Inger (Reimers) the love of his life; their daughter Pam Hill and companion Bob Nendick of Valleyview, AB and their son John McInnes and his wife Jacquie (Henri) of Grande Prairie, his sister-in-law Eva Snelling (Reimers) and brother-in-law Les Snelling of Saskatoon, who without their support and comfort during this time we could not be without. He is survived by his loving sister Lilian Burrows of Victoria, BC and predeceased by his brother-in-law, Al Burrows and niece Noreen Burrows. His life was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Elmer McInnes at a young age and always told us how much he missed his father. Also his mother Elsie McInnes (Love), his brother John McInnes and sister-in-law Shirley McInnes and his beloved special daughter Karen McInnes and father and mother-in-law Gunnar and Kristine Reimers.
Ray was born and raised in Saskatoon. Dad loved to laugh, tell jokes and stories and share with others. Our home was always filled with laughter and we will always remember how he handled the most difficult times with humor. Even during his last days in the hospital he eased our sorrow with one of his famous one liners. He attended Mayfair Public School and Bedford Road Collegiate completing his Grade 12 upon returning from Navy duty in WWII. In this year he was awarded the Senior Watch for Bedford Collegiate. He was always liked by many people and always spoke fondly of his "old gang " of friends. Dad had a gift of making friends wherever he went.
Ray worked as a salesman for North Star Oil which later became incorporated with Shell Oil. Later he bought Silver Top Cabins at Chitek Lake, SK and then manager of Grande Prairie Curling Club in Alberta. He and Inger retired in Clavet while he worked part time with the Corp. of Commissionaires spending twelve years with the Veterans Home on Preston Ave. Within the past four years they moved back to Saskatoon. We will greatly miss our Dad but he will always be in our hearts and share the strength he always provided to us.
A memorial and celebration of Ray's life is tentatively being planned to take place on June 5th in Saskatoon. Announcements will be published towards the last half of May. Our family would like to thank the staff of the City Hospital, Dr. Paul Taillon and Dr. Sharma for the excellent care they gave to Dad and their compassion for us. To the nurses in C.C.U. and nurses on the 6th floor for the loving care they gave Dad and our family during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association in remembrance of Ray and his struggle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Email condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com . Funeral arrangements are entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME. 244-5577
