Born in Fort Qu'Appelle SK. to parents Cecil Elrick and Helen Maude Sheerer, later adopting the last name of Helen's second husband Cecil Richardson Glenn grew up in Saskatoon attending Bedford Road Collegiate. He married high school sweetheart Blanche Gwendolyn Weaver in 1942 and remained married with her until his passing, 69 years later. They proudly raised the 5 Ds: Don, Dianne, Doug, Debbie and Doreen, and ultimately through them boasted ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In sports, Glenn's achievements are almost endless as he excelled at baseball, hockey, golf, curling, tennis, badminton, and even bowling. He was twice inducted into Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, once as an all round athlete and again as a player, coach and manager of the 1948 Canadian Softball Champion Saskatoon Merchants. Most notably, he played hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings and went pro with the New York Americans NHL team in the days when there were few NHL teams and only elite players were considered.

He and his curling team were runners-up in the Saskatchewan Brier no less than three times, 1954, 1955 to the Campbell brothers (including a three game playoff that ended in a measurement) and then in 1960 to the ultimate world champion and name sake, the Ernie Richardson team. Glenn and his team were two time winners of the Hub City Curling rink's "Bond" bonspiel and also won the Rosetown "summer" bonspiel. His curling career included the achieving the games holy grail: an "eight ender".

In golf, Glenn won P.A.'s well known "Northern" golf classic and over his career carded three holes-in-one.

Glenn volunteered to serve his country in WWII and saw 5 years of active duty, abridging his hockey aspirations to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy (and the Battle of the North Atlantic).

Glenn contributed to the sporting and community at large serving as president of the Saskatchewan Golf Association in 1951, President of Riverside Golf & Country Club in 1976-77, President of the Rotary Club of Saskatoon 1965, and was a long time member in good standing of the Kinsmen/K40 and the Northwest Commercial Travelers' Association.

Post WWII Glenn settled back in Saskatoon and took up a career in the family manufacturing business, Richardson Road Machinery. In 1967 Glenn started his own manufacturing business, Richardson Culverts Ltd. Through his business relationships, Glenn was well known in Saskatchewan Municipal circles for his reputation of integrity and the constant application of the Rotary Four-Way Test of business ethics. Thousands of km of grid roads and Saskatchewan highways are built on Richardson Culverts to this day.

Glenn's family, and all associated with him extend deep appreciation to the caring staff of Veteran's Village Care Home for the tender compassionate care provided Glenn during his later retirement years and during a recent decline in health.
