Dad was born in Saskatoon on March 29, 1934. He attended Westmount School, Bedford Road Collegiate and then earned his Bachelor of Arts and Law Degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. There he received the Best Class Leader of the Empire Award and enjoyed tea with HRH the Queen at Buckingham Palace and was invited to return the following year for the Queen's coronation. He was appointed as a Magistrate and later as a Provincial Court Judge. He was Saskatchewan's first Ombudsman and first Chief Judge of the Provincial Court. He was Chairman of the Wage and Price Commission and the Public Utilities Review Commission where he remained until his retirement. During his retirement he served as a part time judge of the Provincial Court.
