Age of 84 years.
Prayer Service will be held Friday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon. Officiating will be Very Reverend Bohdan Demczuk. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Orthodox Cemetery.
Olga was predeceased by her husband, John in September 1983; by her father, John Slobodian in 1937; her stepfather, Peter Dyczka in 1967; her mother, Mary Dyczka in 1971; her sisters, Zena (Ksenya) Warwarych in April 1945, Anna Slobodian in infancy, and Josie Scherbluk in 1997. She was also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Roman Warwarych, Bill Scherbluk, Harold Young and Don Bellamy.
Olga is survived by two sons, Robert Bandurka (wife Shirley Campbell) of Humboldt and Donald Bandurka (wife Kathy Bandurka) of Abbotsford, British Columbia; six grandchildren: granddaughters, Angela Hoskins and great-grandson, Grayson of Redmond, Washington, Julie Treloar and greatgrandsons, Hudson Treloar and Ryland of Abbotsford, BC; grandsons, Daniel Bandurka, Toronto, Ontario, Alan Bandurka, Saskatoon, David Bandurka, Montreal and Andrew Bandurka, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; one sister, Pauline Young of Bradford, Ontario; numerous nephews and nieces; and special neighbors, Sharleen Maloy and Dr. Karen Weese.
Olga was born in Cudworth, Saskatchewan on July 19th, 1925. She attended Sleaford School and took grade nine at Bedford Road in Saskatoon. She married John in February of 1944. In 1951, they moved to Colonsay where Olga became an active member of that community. When they moved to Saskatoon in 1964, Olga completed her high school diploma at Kelsey, became an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, serving for many years as secretary of her circle. In 2002 she gave up her garden and yard care moving to Ilarian Residence. Baba, as she was known to all of her neighbors and friends, enjoyed gardening, travelling and visiting her many friends and family. She will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Ward, St. Paul's Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to John Schachtel MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
