CLARK, Lilly Norene October 5, 1923 - March 10, 2009
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Lilly Norene Clark.
Lilly was born on October 5, 1923 in Saskatoon and lived on the farm in Valley Park. She attended Valley Park School and LCBI in Outlook until moving to Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon for high school. Upon completion of Business School, she worked at the Income Tax Office in Saskatoon. In 1949, she married Bev Clark and they settled on the farm near Delisle, where Lilly was an active member of the Delisle community, participating in the Delisle Homemakers Organization, the UCW and teaching Sunday school.
Upon Bev's death in 1961, Lilly moved the family to Saskatoon, where she continued her community involvement at Zion Lutheran Church with LCW, teaching Sunday School and being Sunday School Superintendent. She also took on the role of treasurer in the Home and School Associations at Henry Kelsey School and Mount Royal Collegiate. This was in addition to helping her children be active members of the community, driving players and cheering at hockey games, attending numerous drama productions, becoming a scout leader so that the cub group could continue, as well as helping with the youth church activities, often in the capacity of chauffeur and cook. Lilly loved having her grandchildren visit her for sleepovers. Lilly continued to live in the Hudson Bay Park area until she moved to Lutheran Special Care Home in 2001.
Lilly was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Anna Dahlen; her husband, William Beverley Clark; sisters, Magnhild (Mickey) Dammert, Alma Dahlen, Irene Dahlen, and Myrtle Dahlen; and brother, Elvin Dahlen. Lilly will be greatly missed by daughter, Janis (Bill) Ogilvie of Calgary, AB; son, Delvin (Tracy) Clark of Saskatoon, SK; grandchildren, Karen and Colleen Ogilvie, Jeff, Kristina, Kevin, Brian, Robert, and Emily Clark; brother, Adolph Dahlen of High River, AB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Darroch, Kathleen Benedict, Doug and Iris Clark, and Don and Leila MacWilliam; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at LutherCare for looking after Lilly with care and compassion during her eight years of residence there. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made in Lilly's name to the Luther Care Foundation (1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0T9) would be appreciated. Visitation took take place on Thursday, March 12, 2009 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at McKague's Funeral Chapel (300-3rd Ave South, Saskatoon, SK). The Funeral Service for Lilly will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Luther Special Care Home (1212 Osler Street, 3rd floor auditorium) officiated by Pastor Heather Anderson, with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Saskatoon, SK.
