MAGILL, BRIAN
The family of Brian Magill announces with profound sadness his passing on Sunday, February 1st, 2009, surrounded by his family.
Brian is survived by his wife and best friend, Judy; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandi and Peter Ives, Corinne and Terry Stribbell; grandchildren, Dalen Ives, Janaye and Taryn Stribbell; mother, Dora Magill; sister, Arlene Priel; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his father, Matthew Magill and brother-in-law, Ted Priel.
Brian was born in Saskatoon on April 9th, 1949 and attended King George Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate. It was here Brian met his lifelong partner Judy and they began their journey together, starting what became the utmost importance of Brian's life, his family. Brian was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, spending countless hours loving and teaching; there was nothing more important in the past five years than time spent with his three grandchildren.
Brian was well known in the community for his volunteer work and his years in the Draggins Car Club. Brian worked at Signs Unlimited out of high school with his father and became owner/operator of the business after his fathers' death in 1986. Until Brian became ill, he remained one of the last with a talent for hand lettering.
Brian will be remembered by many as a selfless man with an endless love for his family; he possessed many talents and touched the lives of anyone who came into his life.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Brian's friends who have been there for his journey during the past eight months. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Team at St. Paul's Hospital who helped Brian pass away pain free and in peace. A thank you also, to the wonderful families on the unit for their support and care over the past month. Donations in Brian's memory may be made to St. Paul's Hospital Palliative Care Unit. A Celebration of Brian's Life will be held on Thursday, February 5th, at 11:00 a.m. from Mayfair United Church (902 33rd Street West). Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kurtis Rae MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES. 1317806
