She spent 20 years of her working career with the StarPhoenix as a proof-reader, and was the first woman employed in the composing room; she retired in 1988. A central part of Virginia's life was her involvement with the Montgomery Trinity United Church and subsequently a member of the Meewasin Valley United Church.
She was an avid gardener and spent many happy hours providing all the vegetables for her growing family. There were always fresh flowers on the table from her garden. Virginia and Henry enjoyed travelling and spending their winters in Arizona, and in recent years travelling to Victoria with her children. Her favorite trip was to Disneyland with all of her children and grandchildren. Virginia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed and remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan. A special thanks to the palliative care team at City Hospital for their care and compassion. The memorial service will be held on Monday, December 15th, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK, conducted by Rev. Sharon Ferguson-Hood.
