SEMPLE, Margaret (nee Craig)
Passed away at Porteous Lodge on Friday, November 14, 2008.
The Funeral Service will be held at the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Doug Craig officiating.
Margaret was born in Saskatoon on June 18, 1914. At the age of one year she went with her mother to Scotland to spend the war years there while her father served with the Canadian Army in France. When the war was over she returned with her parents to Saskatoon, which remained her home for the rest of her life. She attended Albert and Mayfair Schools, Bedford Road Collegiate, and Robertson Business College.
She was employed at the University of Saskatchewan before joining the Women's Division of the RCAF in 1942. Her four years of service took her to several parts of Canada including the Commonwealth Flying Schools in southern Alberta. She married William Semple in 1946 and had two daughters. In 1960 she again entered the workforce and held a variety of secretarial positions. She was a life member of the Army, Navy and Air Force veterans, and a fifty-year member of Balmoral United Church. She loved a good book, a cup of tea with a friend, and a hearty laugh.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother and her husband. She is survived by her two daughters, June of Saskatoon and Nancy (Mark Heule); grandsons, Peter (Robyn Thomas), and Andrew of Edmonton; a sister, Ann; niece, Alice; and nephews, Douglas and Bruce Craig.
