EDELMAN, Larry 1935 - 2008
It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the unexpected passing of Larry at the age of 72 years.

Left to mourn are his loving wife of 52 years, Fran (nee Sikorski); sons, Kim (Rose), Brad (Joanne); daughters, Laurel (Mike Nichols), Shelley (Kevin Lacoursiere) and their families. Larry had eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandson, Amanda (Darren) Williams, Sean, Sara, Ryan, Daniel, Bailey, Josh, Bronwen, Sabrina, Lexie, and Bradley; great grandson, Logan Williams. He is also survived by brothers, Doug (Joy), Stu (Jean); sisters, Hazel (Bert Nelson), Ethel (Keith Read), Lillian Woodhead, and Audrey Dean. Larry had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Agnes (nee Welsh); sisters, Mildred Sayers, Eunice; brother, Albert; and brothers-in-law, Vince Woodhead, Bobby Dean and Joe Sayers.

Larry was born in Saskatoon July 22, 1935 and attended King George and then Bedford Road Collegiate. He was very active in football, basketball, curling, and other school sports and activities. This is also where he met the love of his life Fran. They were married on October 1, 1955. They made their home in Regina for the first few years of their married life then returned to Saskatoon where they resided for many years.

Larry was a salesman and his work took him and the family to Winnipeg, St. Catherines, ON, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and finally back home to Saskatoon. After a successful and distinguished sales career Larry worked at Federated Co-op for 23 years in the printing / advertising department, retiring in 2000.

He was very involved in his children's lives coaching hockey and fastball. Larry was president of the W.P. Bate Home and School and past president of Saskatoon Minor Softball Association. Larry was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame for his work with minor sports. G-pa as he was known to his beautiful grandchildren always gave his time and love to them and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, curling, shooting pool, camping, reading, bar-bqueuing and watching his grandchildren play their sports and other activities.

The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to all the nurses and doctors at St. Paul's Hospital. Their compassion and efforts are greatly appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation, 1702, 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK, S7M 0Z9. Arrangements entrusted to Lynn Constantinoff of PARK FUNERAL CHAPEL, 244-2103.
