TAYLOR, Stanley (Chuck) Taylor 1920 – 2013
Stanley will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife, Rita (Whalen) Taylor, whom with on April 25, 2013 would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; children: Stan Taylor (Susan), Jim Taylor (Bonnie), Claire Gray (Rick); grandchildren: Kim Kelley (Brad), Daniel Taylor (Marianne), Jennifer Hlagy (Jason); great grandchildren: Abby Hlagy, Tessa Kelley, Paige Kelley. He is also survived by nephews George Taylor (Jeannette), Terry Taylor, Ken Palmer (Tannis); niece Shaughan Whalen (Monty); along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Sarah and Harry Taylor; brother George Taylor and sister Ida Palmer.
Chuck was born in Saskatoon, attended Westmount Public School, Bedford Road Collegiate and Brandon College. Chuck interests in sport were varied, but he enjoyed fastball, baseball, football, tennis, hockey, golf, and curling. In 1940 he was offered a contract by the NHL New York Americans which he declined as he had joined the Canadian Navy to help in WW II, serving from 1940 to 1945.
Highlights of his employment over the years: Canadian Fairbanks Morse where he met his future wife, Rita Whalen whom he married in 1953; manager of Scott National, Paper Division in Saskatoon; manager Edmonton Office; General Manager and Vice President Scott National in Calgary. In retirement Chuck volunteered his time and talents to the Spruce Grove Senior housing "Grove Seniors Village Housing Co-operative" – President 6 years; Saskatoon "Hector Trout Manor Co-operative Limited" (housing), President 2 years.
Chuck's family wish to express their gratitude for your kindness to our family, your cards, your prayers will long be remembered. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home. Memorial tributes may be made to the St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice and will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
