Larry Simpson

SIMPSON, Lawrence Albert Simpson April 20, 1951 – August 13, 2016
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother Larry on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Larry was 65 years old.
Larry was born in Saskatoon and attended King George School and then later Bedford Road Collegiate. At only 18 months of age, he was diagnosed with severe asthma which plagued him all his life. Also at the age of 20 years, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. In spite of these struggles, Larry always had a smile and carried on.
Larry's childhood was full of good times during the 60s as with his siblings and neighborhood friends he played tag, hide and go seek, "can e can" and many other fun games. Larry worked for a brief time at Main Plumbing and Heating. It closed its doors, and from that time on his illness worsened and he never worked again.
Larry was an avid sports fan and didn't miss watching his favorite teams; the Calgary Flames, the Saskatoon Blades, the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and the Toronto Blue Jays. You could ask Larry anything about statistics and he knew it all.
Larry enjoyed school, in high School he took 4 years of German and would often come home to speak to us in German and then give us a big grin when we would remind him we couldn't speak nor understand what he was saying!
Larry was a kind, compassionate and gentle person with a huge heart. He loved children and animals. He was always asking about his nieces and nephews and their wellbeing. Larry spent all of his special holidays with family and commented on how much he enjoyed those times.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Ab in 2002 and mother, Emma in 2007. He is survived by his brothers, John and Gerry; sisters, Patti (Jay) and Sandra (Stan); aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry's struggle is now over. He had a strong belief in his Lord and we take solace in the knowledge that he is now at peace in Heaven, free from his many struggles he endured while here.
