GUENTER, Lezlie
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend Lezlie "Lez" Guenter (nee Riecken).

She was born in Saskatoon to Erma and Walter Riecken, and passed on Monday, January 12, 2015. Lez was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dennis Guenter, and her father, Walter Riecken. Lez will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Erma; her son, Graham; her daughter Sarah (Mark) and her grandchildren, Francesca and River; her brother Doug (Helen), and sister Jacquie (Steve); her family friends Monica and Ashley O'Sullivan; as well as many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Growing up in Saskatoon, she made life-long friends while attending King George and Bedford Road Collegiate. Lez spent summers working at the Dog & Suds. While attending the University of Saskatchewan, she met the love of her life, Dennis Guenter. They married on May 10, 1975, and later welcomed two children, Graham and Sarah.

After Dennis' tragic passing in 1980, she bravely moved forward and raised her children with care and constant love. Lezlie was an avid traveler, with journeys spanning the globe. She took her family on adventures from tropical locales to camping and skiing. In recent years she spent months at a time travelling with her children, including a backpacking trip through the UK and Ireland, and galloping across Argentina with her daughter. Her favorite trips were always to see her precious grandchildren.

Lezlie always had her finger on the pulse of current events. She loved live music, plays, movies, parties, and never missed a happening social event. Evenings out with friends made her shine. She had a green thumb and her gardens were enviable. She loved horse riding, reading, and being involved in a book club. She was an amazing painter and loved her art classes. She had class, style and grace. Lezlie had the remarkable talent of being able to engage perfect strangers as if they were her oldest friends. She touched the lives of all she met with her kind heart and beautiful smile. As much as she loved and was loved by friends, Lezlie's proudest achievements were her children, Graham and Sarah, and her grandchildren, Francesca and River. There never was a prouder grandma. Gone but never forgotten. She was loved beyond words.

A Celebration of Lezlie's Life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA (5028 Clarence Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7T 1A7). Family and friends may send online condolences to lezlieguenter@gmail.com Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Charmaine Menard.
