CROWE, Dolores (Dodie) December 20, 1925 - June 1, 2014
Heaven's happy gain is our profound loss, as our gracious matriarch passed peacefully away on June 1, 2014.

Dodie (nee Lydiard) Crowe's infinite patience in raising her large active family, and her fervent devotion to God, justly earned her the respectful pet name from her children of "Saint Dodie". We rejoice that she has been promoted to glory. A devout Roman Catholic, she was very involved in the Ladies Altar Society and CWL.

She was a great dancer "cuttin' the rug" with her husband George, a polished tap dancer, and the pianist at the centre of many lively sing-alongs. She was utterly devoted to her family, supporting them in their many needs and interests to develop their full potential. Dodie was a model of selflessness and integrity, always giving others the benefit of the doubt.

Born in Milden, SK, Dodie moved every year throughout her early years, following her teacher-father's employment until they settled in Saskatoon where she attended Bedford Road Collegiate. She earned her B.A. at the University of Saskatchewan, where she met George Crowe. They married in 1947 and together they enjoyed 42 years raising their family in Rosthern and later Saskatoon.

In 1965 her outstanding marks at a secretarial course resulted in her becoming a "poster girl" in their advertising. In 1967 she returned to university and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught for several years at E.D. Feehan and Holy Cross High Schools in Saskatoon. After many years in education, Dodie returned to university to complete post-graduate studies in special education. Following her retirement from teaching, she worked alongside her husband George in his legal practice.

Dodie was predeceased by her husband George (1989), her second husband Ray Gesy (1993), grandson Jory (1995), and third husband George Stocks (2010). Remembering her with love and admiration are her seven children: Susan, Lori (Don), Ken (Terry), Bob (Mary Jane), Jim, Jeanne-Ann, and Kathi (Ted); sister Bonnie Meek; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Sherbrooke Community Centre's First Neighborhood for their exceptional support and care. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to Sherbrooke Community Centre (401 Acadia Dr. Saskatoon, SK). Please join us in celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 1235 - 12 Street E, Saskatoon, on Thursday, June 5 at 11:00 AM.
