Katherine (Welykochy) Pangrass passed away at St. Paul's Hospital on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the age of 100.

She was born in Zelandia, SK, March 21, 1914 to Michael and Eudokia (Sopatyk) Weylkochy. She attended Pleasant Hill Public School, Bedford Road Collegiate and Saskatoon Normal School (Teachers College). Katherine taught at Junor, Daylesford, Arran and Ituna and was a substitute teacher in Saskatoon for a short time. She met her husband, Wesley, while teaching in Arran and was married in Saskatoon by Rev. Kudryk in the first Orthodox Church in Saskatoon (a small church on Avenue P and 22nd Street).

Katherine was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral for many years, her parents being one of the founding members. She was an active member of the Ukrainian Women's Association and was on the executive in various positions for many years. Katherine worked with young people in the church (junior and senior CYMK), taught Sunday school and Ukrainian school. She sang in the church choir for over 40 years. She was a member of the Orthodox Senior Citizens' Club.

Loved gardening, the outdoors and sports of all kinds especially bowling.

She leaves to mourn her two children, Doreen (Mark) Stratychuk of Sarnia, ON, Wes (Wendy) Pangrass of Sherwood Park, AB; five grandchildren: Kathy (Doug) Vandersluis, Paul (Brenda) Stratychuk, Donnia (Peter) Schlaff; Chris Pangrass; Jamie (Brooke) Pangrass; eight great-grandchildren, Jason, Craig, Kyle, Sean, Jerome, Roderick, Wade, Jake; special nephew, Ben (Norma) Pangracs and their sons, Ward and Mark; two sisters-in- law, Ray Wellock and Grace Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Katherine was predeceased by her father, Michael Welykochy in 1971; her mother, Eudokia (Sopatyk) in 1977; her husband, Wesley Pangrass in 1993; and her brothers, Michael and Edward in 2012.

The Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 and the Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014. Both services will be held at Park Funeral Chapel (311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon) with Very Rev. Fr. Taras Makowsky officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Orthodox Cemetery to follow.
