RICHARDSON, Blanche Gwendolyn March 6, 1921 - February 12, 2014
With deep sadness the family announces the passing of Blanche Richardson (nee Weaver). She was very thankful and appreciative for the respect and dignity offered by all professionals who cared for her at Royal University Hospital.

Blanche looked forward to reuniting with husband Glenn Richardson, daughter Dianne MacIntosh, and son-in-law Robbie Brown in heaven. She is survived by 4 children: Don (Ellie), Doug (Lorna Braun), Debbie Brown (nee Richardson), and Doreen (Gerard) Hnatiw (nee Richardson), along with 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister June Alexander, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Saskatoon to parents Leland Austin, and Myrtle Ellen Weaver (nee Goddard), Blanche boasted 10 brothers and sisters and attended Bedford Road Collegiate. In 1942, she married her high school sweet heart Glenn Elrick Richardson and enjoyed 69 wonderful years together until his passing in 2011. Blanche raised 5 children in a loving, caring and fulfilling household, mostly on Willow Street from 1950 through 1977.

She was active in politics, church, and served as a volunteer in many endeavors, including on the Board of the Saskatoon Housing Authority for 15+ years. In her later years, she lived in McClure Place and was an active participant in building social events, particularly card playing, and treasured her attachment to McClure United Church. Blanche loved family events and trips, and facilitated large family outings such as summer civic parades, social gatherings with a large group of loyal friends (who have largely predeceased her), and was famous for lavish family Christmas celebrations. Babies held a special place in her heart, and she treasured each and every grandchild and great-grandchild, taking particular pleasure in their early years.

A celebration of her rich life will be held at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor Street East Saturday March 1, 13:30 hours, followed by a light lunch. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. A memorial slide show featuring Blanche's life can be found online: http://goo.gl/O9JeNg. Contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are encouraged and appreciated: www.heartandstroke.ca. Condolences may be sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com. The family thanks Debbie Ferguson and Vivian Orban, family friends and advisors, and Bill Edwards and staff at Saskatoon Funeral Home, for their special service during Blanche's life, and after.
