PARKER, Helen (Isabel) Parker
Surrounded by her family, Isabel peacefully passed away at St. Ann's Nursing Home on January 21, 2014 at the age of 87.
Lovingly remembered by her children Jim (Laurie), Margaret, Wendy Burgess (Garry Hahn), Fred (Vicki), Doug, Bruce (Donna), Barb (Al) Bartsch; her sisters Win Parker and Margaret Munro. Also survived by her beloved grandchildren Kevin, Jennifer, Kyle, Cara, Jaris, JD, Mary, Nicole, Kayla, Emma, Luke, Danny; her great-grandchildren Dawn, Kristen, Zachary and Nicholas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, John (Eric) in 2003, parents Bill and Vera Munro, son Keith and daughter Donalda both in infancy, granddaughter Anita Burgess, mother and father-in-law, Fred and Margaret Parker, brothers' in-law and sister-in-law, Don Parker and Bob and Jenny Comstock.
Isabel was born in Winnipeg on December 25, 1926 and grew up in Saskatoon. As a child, Isabel enjoyed summers spent with her Grandma Muzzy in Prince Albert. Isabel attended Victoria Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate. After graduation, Isabel was employed at the Royal Bank. When Isabel married Eric, she became a stay at home mom, raising her children and making our house a home.
She returned to work in 1973 at Royal University Hospital, retiring from City Hospital in 1987. Isabel and Eric retired to Penticton, returning to Saskatoon in 1993 to be closer to family. During these years they traveled to many places including Hawaii and Nevada, but closest to their hearts were summers spent at the cottage in Cochin with family. Mom was a local historian who loved to share her knowledge of Saskatoon. Her family was her life. We will miss the fresh baked goodies, lively conversation and her words of wisdom.
A private family Graveside Service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at St Ann's Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Ann's Senior Citizens Village Corp. Always loved and never to be forgotten. Rest in Peace.
