ASHTON, Patricia A. (Mault) February 15, 1951 – November 1, 2013
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patricia, beloved wife, amazing mother and mother-in-law and cherished "Gaga" at 62 years old. It was a full life, lived well, with dignity and peace, and still of very sound mind and clarity of thought, and much laughter until the end.
Patricia was loved by her husband of 42 years, Marlo, children Erin (Wayne) Culbertson and Jessica (Ryan) Leith. As well as her 4 grandchildren whom she adored so much and was a huge part of their everyday lives, Bailey, Kennedy Culbertson and Samantha & Cadence Leith. Her 12 brothers and sisters and their families, one sister-in-law, Rhoda (Gerry) Miko and their family.
Patricia attended St. John Bosco Elementary School until Grade 8, she then attended Bedford Road Collegiate for her high school years where she met her life long "sweetheart". She had numerous jobs, until her last place of employment, New Life Feeds, where she worked for 25 years. Patricia was a life long member of St. John Bosco, from her education, to her wedding and attending the parish with her family. It is fitting that her life comes full circle with the final celebration at the parish.
Patricia was known for her cheerfulness and positive attitude, even in the end – she always would say "It is what it is" or "it always could be worse". She always opened their home to family near and far, numerous family friends and neighbors and her children's friends –everyone was welcome! She had a green thumb as many would say, but she wouldn't say that she just would try something new or find something she liked and if it worked great, she would do it again. She had such a love for flowers, greenery and decorating and this could be seen throughout their home and yard.
The family would like to send a huge thank you to Dr. Sami, Janice and the many staff at the Cancer Agency for care, support and laughter they gave her. Dr. Johnston, Dr. Walker, Dr. Stakiw, Shelly, Daphne and the wonderful nurses and staff in Pallative Care at St. Paul's Hospital and 6100 Oncology Ward at R.U.H for the amazing care they provided to her. Dr. Kozakavich (Dr. K/Ron) for the numerous calls, visits and support to her and her family for the past 35 years – we would be lost without his guidance.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at St. John Bosco Parish, 1202 Avenue O South, Saskatoon, SK - Prayers will be Monday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Funeral Tuesday, November 5th at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Nestor presiding. Interment and Lunch to follow. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home. Condolences may sent to mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com
