WAKE, Marion Annabelle
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Marion Annabelle Wake on April 26, 2020. Marion is now reunited with her beloved husband, Doug.

Mom was a lady of great strength, beauty, grace and humor. Marion was born on October 19, 1928 in Saskatoon and was one of six children born to Leanna and Gerald Billings and grew up in Saskatoon. Marion attended Princess Alexandra and Bedford Road schools. Mom's childhood friends remained dear to her throughout her life. Marion was an accomplished athlete, excelling in basketball, fastball, and swimming. As a young girl, Marion developed a passion for music and enjoyed listening to opera and attending concerts. Marion completed a business course at Technical Collegiate which led to her employment with the telephone office.

Marion married Douglas Sadler Wake and for a number of years they owned and operated the family business, Beehive Flooring. Mom and Dad raised five children. Mom was a great cook and gardener. We will forever remember her on a warm summer day working in the garden weeding her beautiful flowers.

Marion, through the YMCA, held swimming lessons for children every summer for 15 years at the family pool. Friends and family were always welcome to join for community swim classes.

Mom was Dad's constant companion. They loved to travel to the cottage together with their poodles and enjoyed the peacefulness of the lake. As Dad's health failed from a stroke, Mom was relied upon more and looked after Dad at home. Our hearts warmed to see the care Mom gave our Dad until his passing in 2004. We have been blessed and we will dearly miss our Mother and Grandmother.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Tim Wake (children Doug, James), Skip Wake (children Brian, David), Karla (Neil) Kerr (children Kelly, Amanda, Lisa), Janey Prickett (children Lindsay, Brooke, Landon), and Kim (Shelly) Wake (children Amber, Tyler, Mason, Kelsi, Ashton, Jaden); as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Respecting Marion's wishes there will not be a public funeral. Donations in Marion's name are gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer Society (www.alzheimer.ca). Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.hillcrestmemorial.ca Arrangements entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home.
