THIESSEN, Louise (Haigh) August 9, 1942 - December 31, 2018
Louise Thiessen, beloved wife of Arthur, passed away in Saskatoon at the age of 76 years.
Louise was born Margaret Louise Thiessen to Alfred and Margaret Thiessen in Saskatoon, SK. She attended Caswell Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate. After high school, Louise became a lab technician and she married Arthur Thiessen. After Louise married Art, they started their family and moved to Red Deer for a few years as Art pursued his Pharmacy career. They moved back to Saskatoon a few years later and opened Mayfair Drugs.
Louise stayed home to raise her children until 1981 when she opened up Hallmark (The Card Shop in Market Mall). After a few successful years, she opened a second location in Lawson Heights. Louise continued to work in her stores until 1994 when she took a step back eventually retiring in 2011.
She was blessed with the opportunity to travel to many exotic places before developing Alzheimer's. She was a master Bridge player who loved golf. Louise loved her family time at Emma Lake as family was the most important thing. Her happy, smiley personality will be greatly missed.
Louise was the loving mother to Brian (Marliss) Thiessen of Vancouver, Sheryl (Gord) Tank of New Zealand, and Glenn (Monica) Thiessen of Saskatoon. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren who brought her much joy, especially with their visits over the last few years, Shaelynn, Spencer and Kiana Thiessen; as well as many other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred Haigh and Margaret Dalziel.
Louise's family would like to thank the many friends for their support of Louise through her stages of Alzheimer's. Memorial donations may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Sherbrooke Community Centre, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon.
