HUGGINS, Lydia "Lee" Mary (nee Howorko) June 3, 1931 - June 23, 2021
Lee passed away peacefully in hospice after a decline in health.
Born in Saskatoon, Lee attended Pleasant Hill School, Bedford Road and Technical Collegiate. Lee's career started as a long distance telephone operator at Sasktel before joining CFQC. Recognized for her professional sales abilities she spent 17 years at Sears selling both vacuum cleaners and sewing machines.
Then later fueling her lifetime passion and bringing endless joy as a meticulous seamstress for family and friends. If she wasn't designing dresses, making doll clothes or crafts she would be up until the early hours hand stitching turbans and hats for chemotherapy patients, as well as preparing garments to accommodate prosthesis for survivors of breast cancer. She loved creating new sewing ideas and dreaded getting older such that when her failing eyesight forced her to retire her needle and thread she would often comment that "getting older does rob a person of many activities."
Throughout her life she loved to read about natural health cures and tried to implement what she learnt into her daily life. Always immaculately presented, Lee's love for family and grandchildren had no boundaries.
Lee is survived by her husband of 69 very happy years George "Mac" Huggins; son Robert (Kathy) Huggins of Saskatoon, son Dean (Donna) Huggins of Kelowna and daughter Leslie (Paul) Tilbury of Vancouver; grandchildren: Diane, Brenda, Allison, Julia, Madison, Michael, Leah and great-grandson Caleb; one brother Adolph (Kay) Howorko; as well as extended family. Lee was predeceased by her brother Joe Howorko and sister Helen Schurr.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team at St. Paul's Hospital and the Hospice at Glengarda for their compassion and care. Donations in Lee's memory may be made to St Paul's Hospital Foundation (1702 - 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9). Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the entrance gates, off of 33rd Street and Warman Road at 10:45 a.m. Arrangements are in care of David Schurr - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200 www.mourningglory.ca
