NANSON, Josephine (Jo) 1948 - 2018
On December 10, 2018, Jo Nanson, beloved mother, wife, friend and mentor passed away at the age of 70 after a valent fight against cancer.

She will be missed by her husband John, her children, grandchildren, her children she did not have to give birth to and many friends. Jo was born in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan, in 1948. She grew up in Saskatoon, attended Bedford Road Collegiate, the University of Saskatchewan studying Psychology. Jo married John Nanson in 1970. Together they raised Fiona (Marc) and Michael (Jane). Jo's home and Sunday dinner table was always open to others who needed a place to land, those who attended she considered her extended family.

Jo worked as a psychologist, first at McNeal Clinic, then the Alvin Buckwold Center and finally in private practice. Jo was passionate about ensuring that children with special need had the best supports and opportunities. Jo taught and was a researcher at the University of Saskatchewan. Over the years, she published 64 pieces and mentored many students. Jo found joy in her student's successes. She worked tirelessly for the rights and well-being of children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum disorder at a local, provincial and federal level.

John and Jo shared a passion for photography and the arts. Their home is a showcase of her talent. She also believed strongly in giving of her time and talent to the United Church of Canada, serving on the Church boards in Saskatoon and Victoria. She also represented her local churches at presbytery and General Counsel. Following her diagnosis, Jo worked with pCODR, a national group of professionals that provided recommendations for cancer treatments to Health Canada, as a patient representative.

A celebration of Jo's Life is planned for March 9, in Victoria. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to be made to Gordon United Church in Langford (935 Goldstream Ave, Langford, BC), The Kiwanis Pavilion of Victoria (3034 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC) or Amy McClure House in Saskatoon (McClure United Church 292 Heritage Way, Saskatoon, SK).
