Rita Theresa Kusch passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

She was born in Harris, SK June 25, 1921. She moved as a child with her family to Saskatoon where she spent the remainder of her life. She attended St. Mary's elementary school and later Bedford Road Collegiate. After that she attended nursing school at St. Paul's Hospital where she became a Registered Nurse.

She was married to William Kusch and they lived on the family farm formerly just east of the city (now Erindale). She was very active in the Sutherland community. She helped put on fun nights at both Sutherland and Holy Family schools and was instrumental in the funding of both school's outdoor ice rinks. She was always around to help people when the need arose. Rita was also very involved in running the farm.

Later she became a stock car fan as Bridge City Speedway was constructed on the north quarter of the farm. She also developed a liking for various sports such as football, hockey and curling partly due to her son Jim's involvement in them. Rita also enjoyed time at the lake and enjoyed fishing. She was instrumental in putting on two family reunions for the Kusch family involving large numbers of people.

Rita was predeceased by her husband William; daughter-in-law Loretta; parents Edward and Olive Pajot; 3 sisters Patricia, Olive and Anna; and one brother Thomas. Surviving are her son Jim, and two granddaughters Leah (Jeff) and Andrea (Kyle).

Vigil for Rita will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held at the Cathedral of Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon with celebrant Rev.
