CHAPLIN, Edna Maurine 1930 - 2010
The family of Maurine Chaplin is saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, July 25, 2010, just 10 days after celebrating her 80th birthday.

Maurine was born July 15, 1930, in Saskatoon to Robert and Agnes Little. She attended elementary school at Westmount and Caswell Schools, and graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate in 1948. After taking a business course at Technical Collegiate Institute, she worked at several bookkeeping jobs in Saskatoon, including Richardson Road Machinery and Intercontinental Packers.

She married Jack Chaplin on February 7, 1959, thereafter becoming a fulltime homemaker and mother.

Maurine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack; her daughters, Barbara Chaplin, Lynn Cooper and Lauren Kovarsky; her sons-in-law, Hobby Eyiuche and Wayne Cooper; and her beloved grandchildren, Rachel Cooper and Misha Kovarsky. She was predeceased by her parents; both of her sisters, Grace Muter and Margaret Kelsey; and her niece, Maurine McLean (nee Kelsey).

Maurine enjoyed reading and spent many hours tending her flower garden in the summer and her orchids in the winter. She also loved music, especially classical, opera, and jazz. She and Jack took many trips together, including a grand tour of the Far East in 1988, travelling by car around Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and several cruises. They especially enjoyed a cruise around South America's Cape Horn. They caught a glimpse of Antarctica on the way by, so the only continent Maurine was not able to visit was Africa.

A celebration of Maurine's life will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon. All are welcome to attend and share fond memories and stories of Maurine's life. Our mom died surrounded by family and it was her wish that upon her death she be surrounded by flowers. Maurine's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the RUH Coronary Care Unit for making mom comfortable during the last week of her life, and the staff at Extendicare Preston for taking good care of mom for the past three years.
