KLASSEN, June Frances
June Frances Klassen (née Williams) passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022. She was born on November 27, 1932, in Eastview Carleton County, Ontario (now Vanier) to Frank and Pearl Williams.
June moved to Saskatoon with her family when she was 3 years of age, as her father was offered a position at the newly opened CN Bessborough Hotel. She attended Victoria School and Bedford Road Collegiate. In May of 1952, June married Bob Klassen and together they had five children.
In the seventies, Mom returned to school to get her GED and then went on to get her certificate in social work. She also worked various jobs including Woolco, Eaton's, Saskatoon Home Care, and the Sheraton Cavalier Hotel to name a few.
June loved games of all kinds, her favorite being Bridge. She competed in the Saskatchewan Senior games in both Snooker and Bridge. Over the years, she enjoyed snow and water skiing, tennis, bowling and golf. Even with dementia, she remained an unapologetically crafty cribbage player.
She was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel with her good friend Helen Engel as well as her sisters. They visited much of Canada and parts of the United States, with her favorite being Hawaii. Mom was a classic movie enthusiast, she had an appetite for all things sweet, and loved all her furry and feathery pets over the years.
She is survived by her children Norine (Doug) Davis, Michael Klassen, Barbara (John) Wiercinski, Susan (Terry) Peters, Linda (Rob Perverseff) Klassen. Ten grandchildren; Rob (Chelsea) Engel, Meaghan (Jared) Petryk, Erica (Jason) Dalton, Brandy (Jon) Tessier, Brad Davis, Kaitlin (Dean) Watson, Chloe Peters, Olivia Perverseff, Stephen Perverseff, John Perverseff; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Pearl Williams; siblings Lois, Ed, and Anne.
The family would like to thank the staff at Warm and Cozy Care Home, Saint Paul's Hospital, and the Hospice at Glengarda for their help in her final days.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 1:00pm at St. Augustine Parish (602 Boychuk Drive, Saskatoon, SK) with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (210 Wess Road, Saskatoon, SK). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospice at Glengarda (https://www.stpaulshospital.org/foundation/campaign/).
