THOMPSON, Jeffrey Lynn 1956 - 2021
Jeffrey Thompson passed away November 18, 2021 in Calgary, AB.

Jeff is survived by his wife Ronda, son Bryn, brothers Tom (Joyce) and Bob (Pam), and many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Ellsworth Thompson.

Jeff was born on January 1, 1956 in Kingston, ON, and at the age of one, relocated with big brothers Tom and Bob to Saskatoon, SK. He attended Caswell and Bedford Road schools, developing strong leadership skills and a love for coaching and sports. Jeff became an excellent basketball referee, known for his calm demeanor and fair judgement, officiating city, provincial and national championship games, including Saskatoon's legendary BRIT tournaments.

Jeff spent several years working at Safeway where he met Ronda, who became his wife in 1980. Their son Brynan followed in 1984.

Jeff embarked on a 37-year career with the Scotiabank, beginning in loans and working his way to branch manager, at locations in Saskatoon, Tisdale, Prince Albert, Regina, Lloydminster, Rocky Mountain House, and finally as the Senior Manager in Lending Solutions at the Western Adjudication Centre in Calgary, where he retired in 2017 from a successful career that he truly loved and excelled at. Never idle, Jeff then tried his hand at painting, and went on to work at Leyden's Funeral Home and Enterprise Car Rentals. Everywhere he went, Jeff was recognized for his business acumen and easy-going nature. Never one to complain about anything in life, he was well-liked and respected by those fortunate to know him.

Jeff loved his family deeply and treasured his friendships, particularly with his best man, Andy Goodall of St. Albert, and in recent years, Kevin Tang of Calgary. Jeff was always a steady rock for Ronda and Bryn, no matter the challenge. He was everything to and for Bryn - father, best friend, provider, coach (soccer, baseball and hockey), and travelling companion. Jeff loved to travel and was always seeking out new destinations and adventures. We will miss him so very much and he will live on with us forever, always remembered. Thank you, Jeff, for being such an important part of our lives.

Anyone wishing to contribute in Jeff's memory may make contributions to the Salvation Army, a branch of their choice. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Leyden's Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17th Avenue & 2nd Street SW) at 2:00 p.m. Those unable to attend are invited to join the service via livestream.
