MAZURKEWICH, Leonard Eugene 1935 - 2007
It is with great sorrow that the Mazurkewich family announces the passing of Leonard, our loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Leonard was born April 14th, 1935, the elder son of Frank and Alexandra Mazurkewich. He passed away June 19th, 2007 in Saskatoon at the age of 72.
He was predeceased by his father. Leonard will be dearly missed by his wife of 41 years, Margaret (Wilson); daughters, Lisa (Marc) and Maggie; mother, Alexandra; brother, Ted (Linda) Mazurkewich, their children, Nicole and David (Janna, and their daughter, Kinley); sister, Sandra (Elroy) Henley.
Born in Wakaw, Leonard was educated in his youth at Vladimyr School in the Laniwci district and completed his high school education at Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he completed his BA, BEd and MBA followed by years of teaching and employment at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and SaskTel.
Leonard was a kind and caring person who gave generously of his time and energy to his family and friends. He was intensely proud of his family and loved sharing news of their accomplishments. He was a passionate bridge player and cook, an avid reader with a love of learning. Len delighted in travel and enjoyed time with friends over coffee, sharing a joke and discussing current events. He took a keen interest in his family history and heritage, researching and corresponding on this subject with those who also shared his interest.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive). In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (400-2631 28th Ave Saskatoon, SK. S4S 6X3) or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Chris Nickell, ACADIA DRIVE FUNERAL CHAPEL (955-1600).
