Helen Thompson (nee Kemp) Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93.

Helen is pre-deceased by her mother and father, John and Jessie Kemp, her husband Paul, her brother, William (Irene) Kemp, her sisters Willa (Robert) Scott, Jean (Gil) Strumm, and Jessie (Wesley) Clendening. She leaves behind her son, Ronald Paul (Brenda) and two grandsons, Paul David (Jennifer) and Jonathan James (Kaylie).

Helen was born in Saskatoon on Feb. 17 1913. She attended Caswell Public School and Bedford Road High School. After graduating with her grade 12 she continued on to attend Normal School and graduated with her teaching certificate. Her first teaching position was at Pleasantdale SK. It was here she met her future husband, Paul Hoglin.

Helen was very active with the United Church her entire life. She was a councilor with Christian Girls in Training (CGIT). She was a member of the Mayfair United Church and volunteered countless hours helping others. She and her sister Jean Strumm worked with Meals on Wheels in Saskatoon, helping shut-ins. Helen taught at Princess Alexandra Public School until her retirement in 1977.

Helen spent her last years as a resident of Oliver Place and then Oliver Lodge after she became unable to care for herself. Helen received excellent care in the Alzheimer's Wing of Oliver Lodge.

A celebration of Helen's life is planned by her immediate family to take place on Mother's Day Sunday, May 14, in Edmonton, AB. The family has been asked to announce that a remembrance service will be held at Mayfair United Church, 902-33rd St. Saskatoon on Saturday, 2006 May 13 at 11:00 am. Reverends Deb Walker and Dave Moors will be presiding. It is requested that, in lieu of flowers or cards, anyone wishing to honor her memory does so by giving a donation to the Alzheimer's Wing of Oliver Lodge at 1405 Faulkner Cres. Saskatoon.
