Helena Moore

1919-10-16 1998-02-02
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Helena Elizabeth Moore (nee King) on Monday, February 2, 1998. Mom passed away peacefully in Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon from injuries suffered in a car pedestrian accident on January 17th. She was born in Saskatoon on October 16, 1919 to Alexa and George King. Helena was predeceased by her parents, brother Percy and loving husband Harry. She is survived by two sons: Russ, his wife Faye and their daughters Susan Hoffart (Kyle), and Roberta (friend Scott) of Regina; Roy, his wife Kerrie and their children Rhett, Cale and Mackenzie of Calgary, Alberta.

Helena spent all of her life in Saskatoon except for two years during the Second World War which were spent in Claresholm, Alberta. She was educated at Westmount Elementary School, Bedford Road Collegiate and Scott Business College. St. Thomas-Wesley United Church was a very important part of our Mom’s life. Activities throughout her life include C.G.I.T., Young People’s Union, Church Council, U.C.W., T.O.P.S., many volunteer responsibilities, skating and cycling. She spent thirteen years as secretary of St. Thomas-Wesley. Mom will be fondly remembered for her commitment to and caring for others, including visits to those in hospital and nursing homes, accompanied by her little dog, Lady.

Mom’s pride and joy were her two sons, their wives and her grandsons, Rhett and Cale and her granddaughters Mackenzie, Susan and Roberta. She was most proud of them and their accomplishments and was more than willing to discuss them at any time with her friends.

Mom is dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flower tributes, memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas-Wesley United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.

A Memorial Service will be held in St. Thomas-Wesley United Church, 808-20th Street West, Saskatoon at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 1998.
