McDonald, Jamie
With sadness, Jamie's family announces his passing on November 17. Jamie is survived by his wife Maureen; son Dylan; sisters Heather (Clark) Dennill, Bonnie Jean (Danny) McMurtry, Laurie Gignac; brother-in-law Rodney (Julianne) McNevin; parents Don and Elaine McDonald; in-laws Dianne and Don Gray; as well as many nephews and a niece. Jamie was born August 7, 1958 in Saskatoon. Growing up, Jamie excelled at many sports such as swimming, hockey and football. Jamie began his career with Saskatoon Light and Power in 1981 and became a Journeyman Electrician in 1997. Jamie and Maureen were married in 1992 and had the joy of their life, Dylan, in 1997. Jamie was a great father and was by Dylan's side every step of the way; in the short time he was given to be a father, he never missed an opportunity to teach him and spend time with him. He had it right and always knew what was important. Highlights of that time were spent at Turtle Lake which Jamie loved as his second home in the summer. Jamie and his family also took trips to Disneyland and Disneyworld; those memories will bring great joy. Jamie coached hockey and football and no job was ever too big or too small – it was all about the kids. Jamie enjoyed spending time with Dylan's friends and none of them will ever forget the knee claw; that includes Jamie's friends too, he left an impression. Jamie also enjoyed spending time with his buddies snowmobiling and having his garage parties. During Jamie's illness he met the challenge as he lived his life with pride, strength and determination. His kindness and graciousness during this difficult time was an inspiration to all. Jamie's family would like to thank all of the nurses at St. Paul's Hospital as well as Dr. Stakiw and Dr. Walker. In lieu of flowers, please take the time to do something special with your family in Jamie's honor. The Funeral Service will be held at Friday, November 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Rd.) with reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to Paula Olson.
